There's a painting in my house.
Nov. 15th, 2019 09:51 pmThere are several, really. Some of them I know who the artist is, personally. Some are prints where I couldn't afford the real picture. But one of them is an oil painting by a person I don't know.
Here's the painting, which is an oil-on-canvas measuring about 28" wide by 38" tall:

It's a Vietnamese Woman in a Forest (may not be actual title -- but it is what my mom called it) but I think of it as The Green And Yellow Thing I ate dinner across from for my entire childhood.
There's a name on it, which is either Eatman or Ertman. I *think* it's Ertman because it's in all caps and the other A has a pointy top whereas the putative R has a rounded top.
It would have been purchased in the 1960's probably between 1964 and 1969 in Ohio.
So I googled and I have emailed the not-dead-yet person that I think may have been the painter. We'll see if I get a reply or not.
Also, the oil is starting to crack on parts of the canvas and I'm going to have to look into what it will cost to fix that. (I can kick a couple of grand into professional painting upkeep if I have to.)
