Wednesday was an easy day for the Bird.

which_chickWe went for a spin on Wednesday after work. Since he had a very busy day at the hunter pace on Sunday with lots of imposing (to us, okay, they were really only 2'6" tall) fences, I gave Bird the day off on Monday. On Tuesday we did the first of our leisurely (for now) canter set efforts. And on Wednesday, we had another easy day. What does an easy day look like?
We marched down into the holler and back out (this is our typical warm-up, takes about fifteen minutes), then worked on walk & trot transitions on the flat grassy dressage-ish area. They weren't at a super-busy trot because I had him in the bareback pad and was also working on my own balance. So, ginormously fast trot efforts were right out because I would fall off the horse. Instead, we did sedate, nice, contact-y walk to sedate, nice, contact-y trot and back again, over and over. Emphasis was on balanced yet prompt transitions that maintained energy. We did 20m circles in our nice trot, too. After about forty minutes of work, I put him away.
Today he gets off work because I have lesson at the lesson barn. And we'll see what Friday brings. Hopefully the weather will be somewhat fit.
