I just learned (I am sometimes not very observant) that Barbara Tuchman who wrote A Distant Mirror -- The Calamitous 14th Century (which is a damn fine read) also wrote extensively on World War I which I am currently interested in for assorted reasons not the least of which is the fact that parts of France are still condemned from the war a hundred years after it happened. Wow. But anyway, thanks to the magic of Kindle-on-my-phone, I can now read her books on World War I about ten minutes after discovering that they existed. Truly, we are living in the future.
