It's time for the First Grocery Shopping of the New Year! (Maybe this year we'll make it to December. Like many people's nye resolutions, hope springs eternal.)
As I mentioned the last time I did this, I do not specially pimp my larder before I embark on this sort of thing. What there is in the cupboards is just what there is in the cupboards. No special larder-pimping efforts were made to get better or more impressive results.
Food spending so far?
$7.78 on almonds (plain) at Wal-Mart
$19.68 (2 bags each frozen b-sprouts, green beans, 2 cans whole tomatoes, cabbage, kale, jalapeno peppers, 2 green peppers, 3 broccoli crowns.) Also large container cottage cheese, block of sharp cheddar. Stupid grocery DID NOT HAVE cilantro. Or large-curd cottage cheese. Stupid grocery.
Total: $27.46
I don't know how much I will be spending on groceries. I don't eat very much meat. I don't eat out very often and am actually packing lunches for work because I do a lot better with portion control when I bring my own food. I think I spend less on food than the average person, but what the hell. We shall see, shan't we?
