Nov. 11th, 2007 08:07 amI had a nice outing with brother-the-younger yesterday. We went to the York Symphony Orchestra concert featuring Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, who plays violin jaw-droppingly well. I'm not sure what she was doing in York, but she was way better than the run of the mill, there. If you get the chance, see her. For real.
I also showed off the HoHI to mom and brother, who were pretty interested in same for people who are not personally extreme knitters. (Mom *can* knit but she does normal-people knitting, not extreme knitting. Brother-the-younger cannot knit as far as I am aware but was still politely interested in my little show-n-tell episode.) Mom says that Linda would be interested in the HoHI. I'm not so sure. They're just socks, even if I am indeed very interested in them. Also, note to self, need to buy clogs for wearing with socks.
Brother-the-younger also sent me home with a bottle of his sizer or cizer or ciser or whatever-the-hell it's called, for a beverage made mostly of apples and honey. It's a fermented beverage that probably needs more aging. I haven't opened it yet, but watch this space for developments.
Earlier in the day, yesterday, I visited Heather and took a yarn-based measurement of her baby's head for the new, improved baby hat. (The baby still has the nice purple baby hat, which still fits. Heather thinks the baby needs a CHOICE of baby hats. Whatever.) I think I want a tape measure measurment, though, and I'll try to get that done today after showing the apartment (11 AM). Following that stuff, I'm going to try to get the shoes pulled off the IRH and go for a spin on her to practice my feet/hands as per horse lady instructions.
In other activities for today, I need to gather up the other photo albums from grandma's attic. She wants them with her at Heather's. I need to go look at dad's house and see if it's flooded yet. I need to screw shut the door to SJ's part of the lodge. I need to move the washing machine into the living room so that it does not freeze. And, well, there's always laundry. *sigh*

Date: 2007-11-12 02:56 am (UTC)Today I also got Nick's shoes pulled and took her for a short spin. I dropped off the army men (for Duncan) and the books (for Joe) at the lodge. I checked to see that the new heater in the bathroom in grandma's room at the lodge was working. It was. I gave the baby clothes to Heather after attempting to show the apartment to the asshat who booked for 11 AM and didn't bother to come. While I was waiting for the no-show, I talked to the guy in 347 who swears that he will have money next week, after the landlord-tenant hearing. (He was kind of pleased that he didn't have to take off work to attend the hearing. He doesn't seem to get that he has to PAY for the hearing even if he's planning on paying the rent later.) Also, he has furnace issues he wants looked at. Sally, three doors down, has a leak in her bathroom ceiling that she would like to have looked at. Since M. had an uncle die unexpectedly over the weekend so she will not be in on Monday due to attending a funeral in Butler, I figure Bill can investigate those items on Monday while I'm watching the fort.
Last week John came and cut the two trees down at 200, charged us less than the estimate because he said they were easy to do. The pieces are along the stone wall, out of the way. I figure they can stay there a while. I did some laundry today and I put a few more rounds on the HoHI. Go me. (Ravelry is very fun.) Tomorrow, assuming I remember in the AM, I am putting an arm roast in the crock pot. Tomorrow night, there will be beef and gravy goodness for me! Yay!
(You get work-related updates because this is easier than writing a whole new update and because dad likes work updates and he reads my livejournal.)
