I picked up the HoHI again (Socktober starts tomorrow) and ground away another quarter inch on them. It's been a while since ya'll were exposed to the HoHI, so here's the recap...
The HoHI are red-n-dark-grey knee socks in a pattern that I borrowed and remixed from (a) Meg Swanson's Knitting and (b) Latvian mittens. They're kind of eye-bleedingly complex on the patternwork part.
I've got about seven and a half inches done, starting at the top (where my fat calves are) and heading downward to my less-than-fat ankles.
I have a chart so that I know what I'm doing (more or less) with the pattern. I'll have to get a picture together somewhere along the lines so that you can see how the socks are coming, but rest assured that there are seven and a half inches of socks on the needles at this point. You can also rest assured that I've recommitted to the HoHI.
The socks will eventually need to be provided with elastic so that they will stay up -- I've done proof of concept on my eyestrain purple socks, so this is not a surprise or a technical challenge.
