which_chickIf you have a grandma who needs to be at an eye appointment made four weeks ago (very important to grandma, like super-important) AND you have a horse going to the county fair to be in exactly one class, what are the odds?
The Grandma Eye Appointment is Wednesday, the 25th of July.
Arabian Mares, 5-and-over is on Wednesday, the 25th of July.
The eye appointments are in Harrisburg. They take all freaking day. There is no way to make them go faster. Grandma is old and does not move fast. She cannot hurry. Also, the retina guy moves at the speed he moves probably because he's part sloth. It is not possible to get done with a Grandma Eye Appointment before 2 PM and, at that, you're setting land speed records. The Grandma Eye Appointments are important because they put shots in grandma's remaining good eye so that she does not go blind due to the retina falling off the back of the eye. Grandma feels this is kind of important because in the not-so-good eye, there were no shots and now she can't see the fucking big E at the top of the eye chart.
Also, Cousin Heather (generally keeps grandma) will be at the shore all week of Fair and I have promised to stay overnight at Heather's one night of The Big Vacation so that grandma can have a family member hop to in the dead of night. It makes her feel loved, apparently. She doesn't want to spend a week with just people who are paid to look after her and hop to when she wants something. No. There must be a family member there hopping to. The suggested night of staying-over was Tuesday Night, July 24th so that I could hop to the night before and hop to in the morning and get grandma up and washed and dressed and in the car to go to the Grandma Eye Appointment, thus saving almost an entire day of Home Nursing charges.
Because I am a blithering idiot, I didn't realize that The Big Vacation took place the same week as the damn fair. I hadn't clued in to the fact that Arabian Mares, 5-and-over was the same fucking day as the Grandma Eye Appointment.
Kind of a downer, I have to say, to put all those pieces together. *sigh* I do not really need to see the IRH in a halter class. I know what she looks like and I know how she stands and I've seen her walk and trot on a lead. It's not *that* important and she's either going to get first or second because there will be like two horses in the class. It's not a big, contested class. I can take a day out of the fair schedule and spend it with my grandma. I just wish it wasn't that day, is all.
