Happily, I got a check from BadPayer today. BadPayer sent it with the $4.55 confirmation priority mail, to my work address. The check is one of those starter kind where you write your address in by hand. (FYI: Starter checks do not inspire confidence in one's creditors.)

The postmark was 5-07-07. We spoke on the phone April 27. I have an email from the BadPayer stating that the payment was mailed "the day after our phone conversation". Lie. Lie. Lie.

I really hate it when people lie to me.

I hear you, and even though I've never rented and I can understand. That's why I've always paid the first month's, last month's, and security deposit up front in cash whenever I've entered a new agreement with a landlord. Does that inspire confidence? :-)

I'd cash it immediately. You know, before (s)he realizes that (s)he has to keep money in that shiny new checking account for it to work properly.
