Again horse outing (we're shooting for 3x a week, which means that you're going to be getting a lot of these updates.) and again I'm tired. The horse trailer tire is still going flat pretty regularly. This an annoying, ongoing issue. I may have the boy take the tire off the horse trailer so that I can drag it to Everett and have it fixed or replaced, as needed.

Other than that, the horse outing was kind of nice. The weather lately has been cooperative. Spring is moving along, which is always nice to watch. The outings take place in the golden light of late afternoon (usually about 5 PM to about 7 PM, riding time). The primary difficulty (aside from the airless tire) is finding terrain that is not killer-steep AND not covered with rocks.

See, we need trails. The IRH is not real vehicle-friendly. Trails are bonus because they do not much have cars on them. Trails mean you can go faster than a walk and still have your knees with you at the end of the day. (I live in a forest. Trees are a constant hazard.) The trails, though, are made mostly of rocks. So's the dirt, for that matter. (If the dirt were dirt, this would be farmland and we never would have been able to buy it cheaply all those years ago.) Rocks are not good for horse feet, so the IRH wears booties until she flings them off her feet. (It is possible that my bootie-application-skills are sort of lacking. Research continues.) Eventually we will have to get shoes on at least the front feet of the horses. I'm hoping to postpone that eventuality until the end of May, when it can be a reward to Cass for sticking to the game plan and so forth.

Also, special for my cat: I am glad that you enjoyed the cut-up round steak that you got for dinner tonight. Please do not be thinking that this is the New Way. I have not suddenly discovered the worship of cats. I am not Egyptian. I am a guilty cat-owner who has twice forgotten to pick up cat food at the store. That's why you got round steak for dinner. You'd better act like you are glad to be seeing your dried kibble stuff tomorrow. Ours is not a Fancy Feast household, and you had better not forget it.
