That sounds about right for my time spent shoveling, as well. I live in a very congested little area, and every time the snow plow passes through it pushes a mountain of snow up against the back and on top of my car. So, if there has been snow recently and I want to leave my house, I can expect to shovel for a half hour first.
Older people don't mean that we're incompetent. What they mean is "I wish I could be doing it" or "I have some experience in that" instead. Like when they try to give you advice on raising children... not that I have experienced people telling me how to raise my kids...
I got to dig myself into a parking spot yesterday, after we got about a foot of snow in eight hours or so. I spent the night elsewhere (after hearing the newsguys say things like "IF YOU GO DRIVING RIGHT NOW, YOU WILL DIE"), and got home in the morning to find that nobody had plowed my street yet. So I shoveled myself into a spot, went inside to shower, came back out and shoveled myself back out, and drove away. Yay for Minneapolis winters.
