May. 21st, 2006 10:18 amMom returned the middle hunk of Utena, which appealed not-at-all to her. *sigh* But it's so art-deco! So sleazy! So delightful! You can taste the subtext and it's salty like the Atlantic... but she was not amused. Oh, well. I'd loan her my Hikaru, which she thought sounded kind of interesting, but it's not in DVD format. She'd have to watch it on her computer and I don't think that's very likely -- certainly not for seventy-odd episodes. I think she thought it sounded interesting for, y'know, ten episodes or one movie-length thing.
I mowed the grass today for the first time this year. Go me! I still have to pick up assorted lame woodpile hunks and get rid of them. I have some bark pieces to rake up and set on fire. The leaves and shit down by the creek need to be raked and burned. I have a smallish pile of split ash and another of unsplit ash from 219 -- both of those need to be relocated out of the damn yard. But mostly, the yard doesn't look like total ass anymore. Cutting down the eight-inch-tall grass was certainly a step in the right direction on that front.
I need to mulch things. The mock orange and the snowball bush need to be mulched. The decorative stump with the daylilies around it could use a shot of mulch as could the daffodils around the telephone pole guywire. The preexisting raspberries need their mulch (pine bark hunks from the big pine trees I had taken out) refreshed because stuff is growing through it. It's several years old and probably wearing out or whatever. Perhaps I will mulch things later today. It's hard to tell.
