Feb. 6th, 2008 08:03 pmRegular readers will recall that the old laptop died horribly with crunching noises and "Operating System Not Found" errors some time after Thanksgiving, 2007. I was not, at the time, thankful, even though this tragic event afforded me the opportunity to buy a shiny new red Dell laptop in red with an external USB hard drive (also in red) for backing up my data like I should have been doing with the old horribly dead laptop that I did not back up. At all. Not even once.
To my credit, I did not whine a whole lot about the missing .mp3 files. Mostly, I tried to take a zen approach where one gains freedom by divesting oneself (willingly or not) of one's worldly goods. It didn't really work, but I was spot-on with making the effort. Turns out that I didn't really need to do that, because the old laptop? It wasn't quite dead. Not all the way dead, anyhow.
( You thought that we were done with the old laptop, didn't you? Wrong! )
