One of the things that I've taught Nicknick to do is to trot kind of diagonally in response to leg pressure. She faces straight forward, but her body moves off on a 45-degree angle. It's a lateral movement, something most everyday horses don't do much of but can do if they're trained for it. Really good lateral work is pretty damn impressive, as you can see in this video. (Contains images of bullfighting, so if that's a problem for you, don't look.) Also, the guy on the horse? Has one HELL of a seat. Wish I could ride like that.

Of course you're all interested in the last day of riding at Tasha's house. As regular readers are aware, Nick's been visiting at Tasha's for the last week because Cass (the sprout with whom I ride) has been in Philadelphia this past week for something more important than conditioning her pony. (Not sure what that might be, but what-evah.) Anyway, since we didn't have anyone to ride with at home, we went over to Tasha's and rode with her for the week.

Regular readers are aware of all of that, I'm sure. )
