which_chickProgress on the DDR front. I'd been stalled for a couple of days on the same damn songs because, well, because I suck at DDR.
I've finally got at least a vague idea of what to do with the damn eighth-note arrows. Er. Yay. Also I can now manage diagonal jumps two times out of three without fucking them up unless they're stacked up like planes waiting to land at O'Hare, in which case I'm lucky I don't fall on my ass as the damn game starts to boo me off the mat. Fucking thing. Still kicking my ass: C level of Look at Us (possibly mission C-03) which I have now fucked up some forty-odd times. There's something going on there that I'm just not freaking getting. It's listed as STD (6) which is also probably a bit beyond me, so I'm not quite sure why it's so early in the C rotation. Victories for today... C-07, STD (5) and C-09 STD(5). Apparently I am now a weenie Standard player as opposed to a terribly pathetic Light or Beginner player. Huzzah for progress, such as it is.
Things to work on:
AA on the fucking Get Busy A-5 mission. 72 perfect does not do this. There are only 89 steps in the damn thing. *sigh* Practice does not make perfect. Practice makes me irritated.
AAA on Look at Us A-6. I can AA this song, just not AAA. It's also something in the high eighties for step count. I hate this song.
B-17, clear all songs before falling over in cardiac arrest. Stupid ass thing keeps killing me in Cartoon Heroes. That's hardly fair. Perhaps trying it when I'm fresh would work better.
I need B-45 unlocked, which requires X-9, which comes from getting better than 8.5 mil in X-8. (Untangling this stuff is like unix package dependencies.) I've made a note.
(I know what I need to do to unlock stuff because there's an internet out there with instructions. I don't figure this is cheating. I have to clear the songs and perform to the standard specified to get there. I'm just not-at-all interested in spending my time trying to figure out what I need to do to unlock things. I don't have *time* for that, not when there's a perfectly good FAQ out there that I can look up the damn missions in and it tells me what I have to do to unlock 'em. Wandering around in the dark trying to find out how to unlock stuff is not a fun thing for me and I'm perfectly happy omitting it from my DDR experience.)
For those in our studio audience who have never played the game but bought it for me at Xmas, I am currently marginally proficient. There is an awful lot of proficient out there beyond me yet, some levels of which will probably elude me forever because I'm just not that damn coordinated.
