More DDR news which I'm sure is keeping all ya'll spellbound.

I am stuck on C-03 (Look at Us, std level, dance master claims 3-foot difficulty), C-05 (1998, std level, dance master says 3 feet), C-07 (In the Heat of the Night, std, 3-feet according to dance master mode) and X-13 (Sexy Planet, light level, 3 diff according to the dance master mode). (I cleared B-17 from yesterday by starting when I was all fresh and rested.) Interestingly, these same fucking songs, in the Free Play mode of the game, with the same step charts (as near as I can tell -- I keep dying halfway through the songs so cannot be sure), are 6, 5, 5, and 5 feet respectively. I do not think they are three feet. I think dance master mode is on crack.

Anyone out there who can explain this to me? I can't get it to make sense in my head and I'm really frustrated by dying all the damn time. I'm going to have to select bits and pieces of the freaking songs and just do them over and over until I figure out how they're supposed to go. Fortunately, the game has a mode for doing that. Progress is going to slow to a crawl while I learn to read the diagonal jumps and eighth-notes. *sigh* I was kind of hoping they'd ease into it a bit more, but that does not appear to be the case. I suppose I'll have to explore my options with training mode and/or upping the free play thing to standard.

Welcome to the next level.

All has been made clear. There is a "Mission Difficulty" and then there is a step-chart difficulty. These two things are not the same thing and that's why the numbers are different.
