Date: 2024-12-30 01:31 pm (UTC)I once had a mild concussion (that I didn't go to the hospital for because I was a dumb 19 year old) after falling with (!) the horse while cantering during a hack. Luckily, I wore a helmet, otherwise I might not be sitting here. But my memory was pretty intact - I remembered everything leading up to the accident, but didn't remember the actual accident and also had a fucked up short-term memory for about 20 minutes (like, I kept asking my friend why I was on the ground and where the horse was, she told me, I said, "Oh yeah" and then asked the same shit again about 30 seconds later). After that, it was okay, I just had a mean headache and spent half the night crying because my left side was one huge bruise and started hurting like hell. Should've gone to the hospital to be on the safe side though...
I did call an ambulance a few years ago when a different horse threw me off out in the fields and I hurt my knee. They brought me to the ER, I got an x-ray (nothing broken but haha, it didn't show the severly damaged ligaments, so that was fun later on), then my mom brought me home. I got an invoice for the ambulance ride many many months later for my co-payment that wasn't covered by the mandatory health insurance. It was € 10,-. Because we all know that a fucking ambulance ride doesn't actually cost 10k. (I checked if I could find how much it would be here, and I found the rule that we have a 10% copayment for this kind of service and the highest amount they were allowed to ask for is € 10,-. So it's max. € 100,-)
