Post title says it. The rest of this is just whining. Most recent visit to ortho involved the doc telling me that maybe the bones have shifted (this is not good) or maybe it's within margin of measurement error, he is not sure. Come back next week.

If bones shift sufficiently, then they have to do surgery and install a plate and/or screws. I am not wild about surgery. Things never go back together right after they have been cut apart.

Thanks. I get cranky because I can't do my job effectively (I am a landlord, so I unclog toilets and fix drippy faucets and drywall and install flooring and lots of other things that, y'know, require two hands to do) and I can't knit and I can't ride my horse and I find cooking (peeling garlic, chopping onions and celery, dicing potatoes, slicing a lime in half, opening a ziplock bag) a particular kind of hell surpassed only by doing the washing up AFTER cooking. On the plus side I can now eat with chopsticks left-handed. (Because I am very, very bored. One can only read so many books a day.)
