My cousin suggested to me that I should be watching Outlander, the which she herself is watching on the grounds that it pushes the middle-aged housefrau buttons she didn't even know she had. I reassured her that it was not wrong to enjoy television tailored to a demographic.
She's not the first person to suggest I watch the damn thing. My dad about two years ago or maybe more said I should be watching this show. He was all "It would appeal to you" and I demurred because honestly if I have middle-aged housefrau buttons I don't want my dad knowing about them. Dad further allowed as how it went off the rails eventually. A lot of shows do and that's not a dealbreaker for me.
But anyway. Cousin suggested I watch this. Yo Ho.
I'm better than halfway through the first season. It's nice. I like period pieces with outfits and whatnot. I like horses. I like swords. I like pretty redheaded men who are ten years younger than I am, especially if they have good legs. I think our lead Claire makes some fucking stupid choices, but she's no worse than Miaka. (Fushigi Yuugi. It's the same story, only a book instead of standing stones, and Claire is more organized than Miaka on other skillsets besides yelling for help.)
I would like it rather more if I had absolutely anything that could pass as a libido, but all I'm bringing to the table here is an aesthetic appreciation for the assorted pretty people and a certain amount of admiration for the male lead's diligence in working out. *sigh*
