which_chickHot and humid is not a good combo for horses to do work. If your Heat (degrees F) + Humidity is over 150, horses have difficulty cooling and should be worked carefully with special attention to cooling and rest time. If it's over 180, it's probably too hot to ride at all.
This morning it was 70 with 65% humidity, giving us a 125, which is workable. Here's a picture of what 65% humidity allegedly looks like:
Right now, it's 85, with 65% humidity, a 150. It's quite sticky out. Humans are sweating while standing still. This is not fit weather for riding horses. I mean, I could, but it's not fun for either the horse or for me.
