which_chickSo that ya'll don't start to suspect that I'm making stuff up, here is the pie I made today. It's an apple pie for La's boy Ash. For long-time readers, this pie was made using the new style of official pie tin instead of my horribly-cracked pie tin, a situation I covered in detail previously.
The current pie tin situation is that I have three pie tins. One of them is the blue-and-white, severely cracked pie tin that I do not particularly think is long for this world. The other two are the new-to-me traditional (grandma used 'em) brown pie tins, one of which came from my grandma. The other is a "new in box" traditional brown pie tin that I bought off eBay. It'd never been used and was pretty damn pristine. (There are an amazing number of these pie tins available on eBay -- I think more people would LIKE to be pie makers than actually manage it.)
I think two of my pie tins are at Dad's house from xmas. I know Sue took the cherry pie home following the holiday dinner. This was fine by me because, while I can clean up three pieces of pumpkin pie, I have absolutely no desire to eat half a cherry pie. She had company that would eat the pie, and more power to them. While I can eat cherry pie, it's not my first choice. This does not in any way mean that it was a crappy pie. It wasn't. I'm just not that big a fan of cherry pie. I expect she put a couple of slices of the leftover pumpkin in the other pie tin and left me with three slices of pumpkin in my pie tin. This is my read on the situation, which I have not attempted to verify by, for example, actually speaking to my dad's wife.
I wish my pie tins would come back. It worries me when my things aren't at my house. I understand, intellectually, that I am not going to have a need-three-pie-tins event until at least next Thanksgiving. But... but... there could be a pie emergency, right? It could happen. *sigh* I'd just feel better if they were home. It's been almost a week. They should be home by now.
