which_chickI used to think that you could get a pretty good idea of what people were like from literature. I have no idea why I thought that literature would be easier than, y'know, looking at the world full of people in front of me. Maybe it was because literature doesn't gaze also, wondering why you're not making enough eye contact.
At this late date, I've finally noticed that it's easier to learn about people by observing people. Wow, big news there. This must be part of the too late smart thing, I betcha.
Y'know, I was watching House on Hulu last night. I'd never seen it before and more than one person has suggested that I at least look at it. I'm not sure why people want me to watch this show, but there is a man after my own heart. Damn, he's an ass. He's a lot of an ass... but an interesting ass. He's so delightfully dysfunctional. Torrents don't have the complete first season in a bundle. Maybe amazon has it used...
At work yesterday I was cleaning the tub in #2, the apartment defaced by the death picture thing. It was a mess. There was caulk around the junction between the tub and the tile. We did not put this caulk there. The bathroom had a lot of inappropriate caulking going on, really. Now, nobody who works for us caulks that badly. So I go to take off the huge bead of caulk prior to regrouting the joint and then laying a wee bead of caulk down. Underneath the bead of caulk was *another* bead of caulk, blackened by mildew.
Take note. The caulk is badly discolored by mildewy ick. It was white to start with. Now it's black. And the thoughtful tenants, they decided that the correct response to the problem was to COVER UP the discolored caulk with a wider bead of caulk. What the fuck? NO. That doesn't solve anything.
People are masters of half-assing it.
