I went out to the Camp Blue Diamond fundraising fair thing today. There were good funnelcakes, is why I went.

We listened to Tom Jones on the way up. I remembered more of those lyrics than I thought I would. When we ran out of Tom Jones, we did Bingo (Tess likes the clapping) and She'll Be Comin' Round The Mountain. Heather knows some other baby songs that I do not know and she's mean to me for not knowing them. I didn't have Camp Experiences when I was a kid (not sure whether to play the "deprived" card here or the "my parents didn't want to get rid of me" card -- pretend I played whichever would work better for you), so I don't know very many Camp Songs. Sue me.

Camp Blue Diamond (Not named after a ski trail. Ski trails come in green dots, blue squares, and black diamonds. There is no such thing as a blue diamond ski trail.) is a Church of the Brethren (These are Brethren who do NOT swagger around on peg legs with eye patches, saying ARRRR! a lot. Also, no parrots in evidence. Clearly not *that* sort of Brethren at all.) camp located in Rothrock State Forest, rather out back of beyond. It was not located in the part of Rothrock State Forest that I was in the other day winning all kinds of largely uncommented-upon (Thanks, cousin_sue! Also I'll give a shout out to family, who were reasonably congratulatory in person. The rest of ya'll suck. Big time.) horse awards in a happy fairy-tale ending to the horse event I'd been working toward all summer long. We went to the fundraiser thing today because my cousin Heather used to attend Camp Blue Diamond back in the day and has fond alumnus memories.

The weather was spectacular, optimal for fall. The food was very good, particularly the pork-n-kraut sammiches. (You could get pork-without-kraut sammiches but I'm not sure why anyone would want to do that.) Those were delightful. They also had some bands and an auction guy telling atheist jokes. Exercising my recently-worked tact muscles, I did not take it upon myself to explain my (lack of) religious views to all and sundry -- there were a lot of rocks about the place, so probably not a good time to come clean as heathen unbeliever anyway. Also, Heather called me a bitch, but in a nice way. Tess had a good time and when she got on towards needing a nap, we drove home.

This evening, I'm going to make mushroom and lentil and tatie soup. Yay!

Now, tell me about your day!
