Aug. 7th, 2007 09:59 pmI feel kind of like the WB cartoon with the guy who has the singing frog. It only sings for him, you see. Anyone else looks at the singing frog, and it looks like a regular frog. For him, it sings and dances.
I went riding at Tasha's this evening and we saw three cars. The horse did absolutely nothing at two of the cars and did a wee tiny in-one-place spook (while walking) at the third car. (This is the horse that put me off earlier this year over a car-type issue.) Apparently, she doesn't spook at the cars at Tasha's house. Now, they were quiet cars going quietly and slowly. They were cars and not motorcycles, farm equipment, big semi trucks, schoolbuses, or other really scary things. They were all pretty low on the scary vehicle scale... but honestly.
How am I supposed to get people to believe me on the This horse puts me off when cars go by if she doesn't do it when they can see me? I'm not *exactly* complaining -- it'd be nice if she never, ever put me off again -- but I feel a lot like the guy with the singing frog.
The rest of the ride went well -- Nick did a good job and is clearly more fit than Aurora and Chance... but they started right after Fair and we've been doing this for rather a long time. It'd be kind of sad if Nick were not obviously more fit than Aurora and Chance.
The shoes worked nicely and the English saddle is still the front runner in the Does Not Make My Horse's Back Sore Stakes. I ordered a breastcollar and a different girth last night after work, am waiting for them to get here. It may be a while, but that's okay. We can make do with what we have for right now.
I've got to get the entry forms printed out and filled out and stuff. That's all due by August 25, which cometh right quickly.
