Horse outing this morning.
We did the ten mile stretch (up Betsy, out Bark, down Pittman to the Roaring Run turn, back Pittman, back Bark, back Betsy to home) that we also did on Monday. The weather was a little better and I (finally!) remembered fly spray. We got underway at 8:30 (horses caught, trailered to where we needed to be, tacked up, and started RIDING at 8:30) and trucked up the hill.
I had Nick in the english saddle, which she does seem to like better than the previously-available options. It slides back a bit, but I'm hoping that a breast collar (the y-front kind) will help that. She moved out better than she has all week, so maybe we have a solution. I'm hopeful, but will have to log another week or so of steady riding to make a decision for real.
On the personal front, the nylons (under my jeans) are really helping with chafing and my legs are getting stronger about the posting thing. Today was, I think, the furthest I've ever ridden in an English saddle. Ever. My legs are tired but not impossibly so (yet) and we're going out again tomorrow, weather permitting.
I also called and left a message on Tasha's machine about hauling Nick over there after we get done riding on Sunday. Cass is going to Philly for the week and I'll need someone to ride with and Tash already invited me, so we're just kind of finalizing.
