The local Sheetz was out of the stuff for Raspberry Lipton again yesterday. I don't LIKE Raspberry Lipton, but it's a non-carbonated beverage choice that I can live with. Mostly, I fill up the cup with ice all the way and then use the Raspberry Lipton to fill in the spaces. And then I got to thinking...

Why doesn't Sheetz (a convenience-n-food store, like a 7-11 or a WaWa, kinda) sell regular water at the soda fountain? The fountain drinks are way cheaper than the bottled water. I don't have exact figures, but it's like fifty cents cheaper for 32 oz of fountain drink than it is for a 20-oz bottled water of the cheap variety like Aquafina. And you get ice with the fountain drinks. I don't want carbonated soda. I want water, really. Raspberry Lipton is the closest thing I can get to water at the fountain... but it doesn't have to be.

At Sheetz, they sell bottled soda and fountain soda both. That seems to be an okay thing. So why don't they sell fountain water along with the bottled water? It wouldn't cost very much to do. You might think that nobody would pay for water in a cup with ice in it, but heck, in the eighties, nobody thought folks would pay for water in a plastic bottle, either. The bottled water business is huge. Perhaps there is a huge market for fountain water-with-ice, too. Maybe nobody knows about it because nobody has ever tried.

I've sent them a suggestion. We shall see. (Just because Amazon.com didn't like my suggestion that you should be able to sign up for and auto-buy a manga series as and when it came out does not mean it wasn't a good idea.)
