Tired is how you know you've been having a life. I'm whipped.

Today after work, I visited Meatly to see the new baby. I took the IRH across the road to eat the tall grass and watch cars go by. I took pictures of the new cat. I went to dinner at dad's house. I downloaded pictures (including those from the shower) off the camera. And now I'm updating you folks. I forgot to get the stuff for Once Upon A Time pork, which I told La I would make for her. I suck. I also need to do laundry so that I have clean things to wear tomorrow. I am too tired to do laundry.

Does not have a name. Should be sold instantly if not sooner. No, I don't care about the money. No, I didn't breed the mare. (The mare is a hussy.)

Ungrateful Bastard:

Needs a better name. This is a girl cat, has four white feet ("Socks" and "Boots" and "Mittens" are way too obvious and we will not be doing those, thank you.) and a bib. The eyes are green. The bulk of the cat is a symmetrical marble pattern in black and grey. The cat is shorthaired.

My mom's (somewhat recently departed) cat looked like that. Her name was Abigail...we called her Abby. Though my mom's other cat is Westminster so she had Westminster Abby. (Yeah, there should be an 'e' in Abbey but whatever.)

I tend to name my cats after goddesses. I don't know if that works for you ;) But something like Diana is pretty 'normal.'

the best cat name i've heard was "crowbar." "dirt" came in a close second.

I'm really starting to like "Ungrateful Bastard". It could be Youbee for short.

that's a nice long-legged filly. would ai be guessing wrong to think she'll be a good bit bigger than her mom? I had to go back through your archives, and would surmise that the breeding occured while you were on vacation last June. I've also got a mare who takes charge of her breeding schedule, fences or owner planning be damned.
UB looks like a very nice kitten, I can never name anyone else's animals, but may I suggest Callisto?

This is Meat's third to the stud in question. The oldest is a dark bay (Wren) and 14.2 or so. The next one (the chestnut coming-two-year-old) is not quite that big -- might hit 14 hands but probably not more than that. And then there's this one, which looks like she'll stay black but I've no idea how big she'll get.

Meat is 13.3 and Glory Bound is 15 hands or so, a grey arabian. The babies generally fall somewhere between the parents, but where they fall is a crapshoot. Glory is built like a tank (for an arab) and makes bigger babies than I'm really happy with Meat having, but his shoulders and legs are better than hers and he passes that along. The babies also get his even, amenable temper.

AWww, that is a cute kitty.
However, historically, I am terrible at naming cats.

"Cat" is always a popular choice. Or you can get a little daring and go with "Kat".

The marbling makes me think that her name needs to be Travertine.

I like Travertine. UB (or Youbee) is cool as well. I had a white socked cat once and named her Chicago - Chi (shy) for short. Her brother had the marbling and his name was Stasher, due to a moustache he had. My current cats are Diva (so aptly named) and Fuzzy (also aptly named...until the dogs chew on his fur...)

Very cute kitten. Cute little filly. I so want a horse...

I know you don't get excited about Meatly's babies, but that's a very cute little filly. :D

And your kitten's adorable.

I like [livejournal.com profile] electroweak's suggestion of Travertine, possibly as a second name (since cats in your world get fancy second names). But I'm getting a little attached to Ungrateful Bastard. :D

Best cat-name I've ever heard was Toeshot (the family got the cat when they were stationed in Germany just a couple of months before they *knew* they were coming back to the States).

I don't really see the point in naming a cat. It's not like they obey any commands anyway.

Actually, my cats obey a variety of commands from "Get Down" to "No" to "Here (insert name)". Naming them is helpful when I want to yell at just one and not both. (My household has a firm limit of two cats. Otherwise I'll end up like one of those weird ladies found dead and half-eaten by her fifty-odd cats.)

I don't know why the cats belonging to so many other people fail to obey. However, I tend to think of it as a lack of effort on the part of the owners. (My friend NYR's allegedly not-trainable cat got more manners when it acquired a more consistent trainer in the personage of NYR's husband.)

Before I saw the pictures, I was thinking something in a Nimbus Chiaruscuro. But ano koneko kawaiiii da! With the picture, the name that leapt to mind (not entirely in concert with your naming scheme) was Chocolate Swirl. But Travertine surely is a good name!

はい、はい。かわいいですよ。でも遅い。子猫の名前は"Ungrateful Bastard"です。 Also, crappy pictures notwithstanding, there is no chocolate on the cat. It's entirely a gray, black, and white kitten, one that already answers to "Youbee". Probably I should pick out the name before selecting the cat so that this sort of thing doesn't happen again. I've made a note.
