Dec. 23rd, 2006 12:03 pmI watched Thank You for Smoking last night -- brother the elder and his wife had a copy -- and that was kind of sharp and funny. I enjoyed it. I didn't get a whole lot else done with the evening, though.
I'm up-to-date with Heroes, still pretty fixated on that Mohindar guy. Man, is he a hottie. The Haitian guy who just started talking, also the hotness. I <3 pretty mens! Yay for television with pretty mens in it! Also, can someone please suggest additional television for me to watch? (I've enjoyed Deadwood, Desperate Housewives, Veronica Mars, Six Feet Under (first two seasons), BSG, and Heroes.) Something with plotly goodness and attractive characters would be nice. A good visual aesthetic is also a selling point. Hook me up, peeps. (Do marshmallow chickens *watch* television?)

Doctor Who (the second season isn't out on DVD yet but the first season is)
Big Love
Smallville
Everwood
I'll second Buffy and Firefly. And Penn & Teller: Bullshit is a great series, despite the fact that it's basically just Penn & Teller calling people idiots ^_^

Date: 2006-12-23 07:30 pm (UTC)(Hot men in Buffy: The Mayor, Spike, Riley (kinda. like if he wasn't allowed to talk.), Giles, Wesley Wyndham–Pryce (kinda, in an overly earnest way), Oz, kinda. Not hot: Xander. Angel.)
Also, men do not *have* to be swarthy or darker to be pretty. It's just that all the pretty men (thus far) in Heroes are of the darkly swarthy persuasion... I can only ogle what they give me to ogle.
Seriously. Look at the guys that they give us...
Nathan Petrelli (candidate): Asshole. No, thanks.
Peter Petrelli (nurse): I have more balls than he does. Not a sex object. A sympathetic everyman, yes, but not pet-the-kitty material.
Hiro: Geek. Cute, maybe, but not sexy.
Hiro's Friend: Actually, kinda hot in a salary-man sort of way. I'd do him. Has a kind face.
Claire's dad in the dork-glasses: Weird. I get kind of a bad vibe on him, too. He says he's not working for a TLA, but he sure as shit doesn't JUST make paper. Not a sex object. Sort of creepy, really.
Zach, gay friend of Claire: He's pretty in a twinkish sort of way, but is entirely not interested in women and lacking in the predatory appeal that made Gale Harold such fun to watch as Brian in (US version) Queer as Folk.
Matt Parkman (Cop-who-hears-thoughts): Not hot. Not.
Blonde FBI Agent who works with Matt: V. hot. I'd do her. (Sorry. The *men* of Heroes. Right. Back on topic.)
Sylar: Not hot. Too many eyebrows, plus psycho thing with the BRAAAAAINS! Not hot.
The Haitian guy: Hot. Elegant. Suits home-decorating interiors from overwrought Victorian to minimalist modern. Should wear white linen pants, hopefully with nothing else. Yeah, they *would* be see-through. Wouldn't that be great? Linen drapes so well, too...
DL, he-who-walks-through-walls, husband of Niki: Not un-hot, but the Haitian guy is way hotter. I cannot explain this. It just is.
Micah, son of DL and Niki: He's like ten. But yes, he is pretty now and he will grow up to be hot in about ten years. (Actor is also a classically-trained pianist, not that this is relevant... just indicative of the largesse that fate showers upon some folks while leaving other people completely ungifted.)
Isaac, the heroin artist: Hot. Also edging toward dark-n-swarthy. Cleans up beautifully. Would look great in bondage. He'd suffer exquisitely. He's got great lines.
Mohinder: Smokin' hot. I think it's the classical lines and the sorta-british accent thing going on. Plus, have you seen the shoulders on him? They go on like forever, but without him being all hugely muscled up like a bodybuilder. He's got serious class. Also, he gets good snarky dialogue. (See related: Fondness for snarky character Logan Echolls in Veronica Mars)
The show just don't give me much to work with in the fair/white/caucasian grouping. If it gave me something I could work with on that front, I'd work with it, you betcha.
