All ya'll have those programmable signs that you can put the time and temperature and a short message or whatever on, right? I drive by your damn signs pretty regular and I know you have 'em, so don't go looking like you don't. However, your signs are not being used well.
You have time for three messages. One message should be the time and temperature. One message should be about your business. One message can be more about your business OR a holiday greeting.
Sample:
1. 8:24 78F
2. Great HELOC Rates!
3. Good Luck Hunters! (for the first week of deer season, which is a near holiday in these parts)
Sample:
1. 10:03 52F
2. Is your Quad covered?
3. We Sell ATV Insurance!
Sample:
1. 7:41 30F
2. $500 on all trade-ins through 2006
3. Happy Thanksgiving!
Putting five or six messages on your programmable sign, including a dipshit graphic that doesn't have any damn useful information on it, is stupid. People can't see that much as they drive by. Whatever you program your damn sign to do, test-view it by going out and driving past the fucking thing. Did you have time to read all the stuff that was on the sign? Hrm? I bet you didn't. Try again... It's not like these are difficult rules. You have time for three items. First item is time/temp because that gives people a reason to look at your damn sign. Second and third items are to try to SELL THEM YOUR PRODUCT while they're waiting for the time/temp. Showing the viewer an animated football graphic is not productive. I'm just sayin'.
