Apr. 26th, 2008 11:29 pmThis morning I walked around the pond and looked for salamander egg masses, the which I found both in the emergency spillway seep and in the vernal pool down below the dam. I also went in and visited grandma (Heather and Jackie are away at quilt camp, so grandma is feeling sort of alone) and then did a fun show outing with La and Trys and the kids. I arrived too late to see all the kids get put off by their hot and cranky ponies, which kind of sucked, but I did get a nice start on a tan.
There were off-and-on thunderstorms, heavy at times (with hail) and I went home for lunch/snack. After that, during a clear spot in the weather, I got Project Horse out of the field, grained, groomed, and tacked her up, and made Trys hop on her while I led her a couple of steps. Horse was fine. Trys hopped down, I hopped up, and she led the horse for a couple of steps for me. Horse was still fine. At that point, the rain came down in sheets so we were done for the day... but, y'know, Ride #1 (Trys) and Ride #2 (me) are in the bag. Progress is being made. Next up: RIding without being led. Woo!
Tomorrow I'm going to an Arab-Morgan hunter show. Trys is apparently showing some Morgan mare of her pony lady's (this is a recent development, not part of the original plan) and we're leaving her house at 6:00 AM, so an early start indeed.
