I did some grocery shopping today (more ingredients for cookies, mostly) and walked all the way around the WalMart (good traction, climate control, total lack of snow) while I was out. Jeans aren't quite comfortable yet -- I changed back into sweats as soon as I got home again.

Is it just me, or do the Bratz dolls look kind of tarty? I generally avoid the toy aisles of the WalMart because I don't buy that shit, but since I was trying to get in a sufficient amount of walking, I wandered through.

I think they're supposed to be sort of tarty--I believe that's part of the appeal. (As young girls get sluttier and sluttier looking younger and younger.)

Lord, do I sound like an old fart today. :)

Yeah, but I honestly don't get who is out there buying these damn dolls. They're DOLLS. For little girls. Big girls, and even girls who want to think they're big before they've even got through their first box of tampons, do not play with DollZ. Little girls do not need to be dressing like that or thinking about dressing like that...

Yes, well. I was a *huge* fan of Barbie dolls when I was a kid (8-12 or even 13 years old) and I've noticed since then that Barbie has gotten significantly tartier as well.

(And she's got really bad taste these days--my Barbie looked *good*.)

They do look tarty, and my spawn won't touch them with a ten foot pole.

Yeah...they're pretty nasty. Even worse are the Bratz Babies or whatever. Also, I was at the movies recently and saw a Bratz music video and pretty much wanted to stab myself in the face then and there.

Glad you resisted. They have music videos? This is for their table-dancing gigs, right?

It was seriously the most awful, generic, poorly-animateed..... I don't even know. I can't summon a memory of more than like a couple frames, or the music, but it was baaaaaaad. I mean...ok, I remember when I was little, my sister had this barbie that came with a cassette of songs, so it's not like this is a new thing. But WHY? And, Barbie is hoochietastic enough for me--why does some company think that America needs prepubescent dolls slutting it up? I get that middle schoolers think they are hot stuff, but that adults are buying into this instead of going "oh, that's so cute, now put on some pants" is baffling.

So in essence: Yes....and it is even worse than I imagined.

They selll Bratz Halloween costumes. For the parents who hope their daughter grows up to be a prostitute, I assume.
