If, at some future point, you experience a WindowsXP computer weirdness where, when you clickit on desktop icons, you get their fucking properties... where you clickit on links and they immediately download instead of working normally... where you cannot clickit in a blank to type in something (like, y'know, to use Google to solve your fucking problem), odds are good that your ALT key is stuck down due to the volume of cat hair (or other foreign material) underneath it. Check both alt keys -- pop 'em off and examine the underworkings -- to make sure they are operating normally before proceeding with any other troubleshooting activity. Trust me, this will save you buckets of time.

In other news, lots of good mail for me today.

Item 1: Truly sexy mayan string hammock. Truly sexy.
Item 2: Amazingly nifty saddle for use with pony (pony not included). Though used, nearly immaculate. I am impressed.
Item 3: used copy of Hero, the DVD, for watching of green fabric prettiness tonight.

Huzzah for the mail!

I also did my part to provide entertaining (or not) mail for others because I sent off a mix CD for [livejournal.com profile] wookiepocket, who'd sent out a request for birthday mix CDs. I don't know that she's got any actual, y'know, need for Merle Haggard, Johnny Horton, Roger Miller, and Tennessee Ernie Ford, but she's going to get 'em anyway. (Anything I could possibly pick to send on the trendy front would be oh-so-five-minutes-ago, but I figure there is no limit to how far off trendy I can be.) We shall see.

i'm guessing that when you say Roger Miller you're refering to some imposter and not to the lead singer/guitarist of Mission of Burma?

I don't know who Mission of Burma is. Roger Miller is the guy who sang King of the Road. You know... Trailers for sale or rent, rooms to let, fifty cents. No phone, no pool, no pets, I ain't got no cigarettes... (If you do not know this song, please lie to me.)

Mission of Burma was/is a first generation "post-punk" (i.e. punk by people who could play their instruments) band. their most famous song, i think, was That's When I Reach for My Revolver.

i know King of the Road, but i have to admit, the first time I heard it was on an REM album.

Well, I like Tennessee Ernie Ford.

What do you have of his?

I like some Roger Miller.

The thing is, the spouse and I like everything. Well, we're eclectic, but choosy.

Tennessee Ernie Ford -- Sixteen Tons and Tennessee Stud

Roger Miller -- just King of the Road

These are not artists I have embarrassingly large amounts of stuff for. There are artists I have embarrassingly large amounts of stuff for, but not these.
