How? How is this a thing? Is there a reason that manga One Piece and anime One Piece were insufficient? I also do not understand why we got a live-action Little Mermaid. I am, however, not at all unhappy with live action The Untamed, so... I guess.

They’re making it because it is extremely popular and nothing draws Netflix like the lure of a whole ton of money. XD The trailer didn’t look so bad, at least it’s colourful, which we definitely can be thankful for nowadays when everything is a sludge of grey/beige/blue-ish and too dark to make out the characters, much less see what's going on. And I dig Zorro’s look. Though it’s very ironic that Netflix makes a tv series out of one of the longest running anime ever, when they’re so notorious for cancelling everything. XD

And same with all these Disney remakes – they bring in lots of money; or well, they used to. (That new Lion King made bank but OMG was is awful!) No other reason but “Beloved IP that people will watch for nostalgia = MONEY!” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's such a cynical approach to the art of filmmaking and it really feels likely Hollywood is creatively bankrupt - which it isn't, but original IPs don't get funding because no-one wants to take the risk.
A friend who's a movie critic found TLM okay/mediocre - not great or anything, but he thought the main actress was charming and there were some good ideas in there. I haven't seen it and IDK if I'll make the effort to go to the cinema for it.

And wow do I hate it. These Disney remakes are so soulless – I liked “Cinderella”, as that was kinda creative and pretty to look at. But it’s not gotten better since then, rather far worse…
