Eating the Shit Sandwich, Day 1

So following the Monday DLB, I went home after work on Tuesday and fixed myself a shit sandwich and I ate it. Let's do this thing!
Got on horse. Made concerted efforts at...
Ask, Wait, Ask+Enforce
Front Thigh On Horse
Lower Leg off Horse
So how'd that go?
Mmm Mmm Good.
Horse had prompt and enthusiastic forward that SELF SUSTAINED in gait of choice.
Halt also improved with less fussing.
Adjustability in gait also improved, with rider able to stay more balanced and stuff.
Lateral work was about 3/4 of what it is without directives but I think this is because of rider positioning difficulties.
Those parts were pretty good. I did a, y'know, B+ effort on the objectives. Changing to new habits is super hard and I forgot a few times. But B+ is good enough for progress, so I'll take it. Rome not built in a day, etc. We can build more Rome on Thursday.
The downside was that "front of thigh on horse" changes my position enough that I lose a lot of effectiveness as a rider. It is possible that I'm doing it wrong. I will inquire at lesson on Wednesday. Might be that I'll be able to find a different way to be that is both "front of thigh on horse" and also "reasonably effective". More research is needed.
