Headline says most of it, really. Brother the younger is running for judge and I will be seriously happy when elections are over in a week or so. Kind of tired of hearing about the (location) judge election, over here.

I'm back to playing fiber arts, which happens when the leaves change and the weather turns to the cooler temps. Current project is a percentages raglan sweater out of handspun brown sheep. I got the directions off the internet somewhere. I've wanted to do a handspun brown sheep sweater for a while and so now I am doing one. It's down below the armpits (raglans are usually knit from the neck down, with the sleeves picked up and finished at the end) and heading towards the waistline, where I hope not to drown in an infinitude of ribbing.

At the moment, spinning is keeping up with knitting, largely because when I do an hour of spinning practice of an evening, I can generate enough yarn to keep knitting. I am not the world's fastest knitter nor the world's fastest (or most consistent) spinner, but I am improving.

The sweater is being knit in the round, as raglans apparently are, via continental pick rather than English throw. I learned how to knit throw but taught myself pick in order to do two-color two-hand colorwork and now I generally pick rather than throw for knitting in the round. This is the first sweater I have ever made and I don't have a whole lot of clue about how sweaters are made but I pretty much know what I want it to look like when I'm done, so there's that.

The brown sheep wool comes from a box of brown sheep wool that I bought some years ago (ten? eight? I don't even know.) in anticipation of doing a brown sheep sweater. I lost interest in the project about fifteen minutes after the box of brown sheep wool arrived because of course I did. So I left the sheep wool in the box in the closet until I felt like playing brown sheep wool again. Now I am interested and have about a third of a sweater spun and knit so far because it was absolutely ready to go as soon as I felt the urge to proceed and so I did not have to endure a cooling-off-of-enthusiasm period between wanting to do a thing and being able to do the thing with all the materials to hand. (This cooling-off-of-enthusiasm thing happens sometimes and it used to bother me a lot more than it does now.)

In other news, weight is down to 166.8 on the scale as of this morning. This is, iirc, the first time I've hit 166 in absolutely years. Huzzah. Also, I really miss carbs. *sigh*
