which_chickI took pork pernil (Bittman recipe) over to La's today for lunch. She's been asking when I'd make it again since about two weeks since I made it the last time, which was along about a year ago. It was again a hit.
Among other things, I went into Bedford to help April play with her horse. Her horse is two years old and she's afraid to touch his back feet because he "hates her" and "wants to kick her" and whatnot. There's nothing wrong with April's horse. He's fine. He's not even bad about his back feet. He sucks at picking them up, yes, but in an "Here, now, leggo my leg!" sort of way rather than a "Touch my leg and I'll take your fucking face off" sort of way. He needs more practice at picking up his back feet. He's not mean about it. He's unpracticed.
She's got to get over herself, there. Nothing wrong with the horse, who is nonreactive, easily bored, amenable, and fairly smart. We had a tallk. There will probably have to be additional sessions for her to be able to do normal horse maintaining activities with him, but the training will mostly be for her, not for the horse.
I also picked up a nice selection of punk music compilations b/c La was going through some of Ash's things and she didn't want to throw the CDs out. She figured I'd give them a home, the which I did. They're amusing, if only for the band names and song titles. I am currently fighting the urge to go through the lot and review the tracks like... like... like a wine tasting columnist or something.
It'll be a year next month and that is totally going to suck.
I still water his plant. (Some people gave plants for funeral arrangements instead of flowers. There were so many plants that La didn't have space for them all. She asked me to, so I took a plant home to care for because La didn't want to throw it out. Mine, a peace lily, is still alive. I don't know about the rest of the funeral plants b/c La has a black thumb.)
