I made the tasty dal for supper tonight. I haven't had it in quite a while and I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it. A cup full was less than enough, but I also got half a large acorn squash, so it's not like I'll starve. I have put the rest of the Tasty Dal into the fridge, where I will MOST CERTAINLY not be sneaking over and taking odd and random bites of it throughout the remainder of the evening.
I'm also toasting the squash seeds to eat them. Yum!
In other news, I'm making headway on spinning, though not the spinning I'm supposed to be working on. (Alpaca, it bores me.) I've returned, for the moment, to my sheep George, a romney of extensive staple length, whom I have an entire fleece from. I'm flick carding it and spinning it out into a thin, high twist single at a hell of a clip. I'm continuing to work on consistent and even spinning, with some success. (Looking at the handspun efforts of others on Ravelry, it is the depressing. I need to practice more so that I can be amazingly even and uniform with my spinning.) I'm getting along with the wheel just fine. It doesn't seem mad at me for ignoring it all summer long while I was doing horse things.
And I have got to pick up the fucking mittens tonight. I am a bad daughter. I suck. [STICK] A better daughter would have gotten married and had babies and would ALSO be able to churn out mittens in a reasonable timeframe. [CARROT] If I get the mittens done, I can play with cabled goodness swatching for the Wicked Cabled* Socks Of Doom-oom-oom. (They're so cool that they echo. In my mind. The asterisk is the theatrical weather lightning strike and thunderclap.) Maybe there will even be GRAPHING... ooh, be still my heart.
