Mom wants me to post about Tosca, which was a lot of fun and a good opera of the everyone dies variety. I enjoyed it. However, other news is more fresh and timely.
I had a nice day on the IRH today. There is a New Floor on the trailer! With Treated Lumber! And Floor Mats!! (The tire still leaks, though.) The new floor is very spiffy. She did airs above the ground upon saddling, but the bridle part went really well with no tossing of the head. *sigh* Win one, lose one. The booties stayed on the whole time, even after I got caught in a vine and the IRH got flustered and tried to leave in a bunch of hurried leaps (but she stopped and the vine let go and everything was fine). Yay for the booties!
I also picked up the new cat. It's not what you might call friendly. It's also not litter-trained. I'd go as far as "untouched by human hands" but Liss grabbed it by the nape of the neck and shoved it into a feed sack quickly so it has been touched by humans at least once. I'd bank on not much MORE than once, though.
The new cat (gender uncertain -- while I can sex cats, it is not tame enough to hold and examine) has no name. It's a grey and black marble with white trim, very attractive, with big ears. Unlike the pre-existing cat (Autumn), this cat does not have long hair. I'm hoping for an improvement on the furball front, though I admit that this might be more wishful thinking than anything. I would take a picture of the new cat but last I saw it, it was hiding in the cave I made for it. (Old plastic litter bucket with towel in it, laid on its side.) The new cat is locked in the bathroom (with cave, food, water, and litter pan) until it gets tame enough for me to handle -- my house is full of places where a fearful and feral kitten could hide and confining the little bugger to the bathroom limits its choices.
The new cat needs a name. "Ungrateful Bastard" is currently the frontrunner but it isn't really... elegant enough. I'm open to suggestions, but be advised that the naming of cats is a delicate undertaking. Cats get a first name and a middle name, the middle name fairly elaborate. Autumn's full name is Autumn Ecclesiastes, for some idea of what you should be aiming for.
Tomorrow is electioning so I'll be out of the house all day.
