Note to pedestrian hopefuls in Breezewood: There are five lanes of traffic. There are no crosswalks or walk/don'twalk signs. There are no sidewalks. There are lots of "No Pedestrian" signs. The lighting makes pedestrians invisible at dawn and dusk as they amble across the five lane traffic (35 mph speed limit). Probably all of these things contribute to a very hostile environment for people on foot. Please do not attempt to walk across the street in downtown Breezewood. Thanks.

Note to tenant: Your ability to call me to come back into Bedford at the exact moment when I have raised the first bite of food to my lips is not a talent that is earning you any friends. Please don't do that again.

Note to grandma's home health aide: I understand that you are twenty-four and very excited about being pregnant. That's your perogative, of course, and I'm happy for you. However, you might want to be a little more careful smiling indulgently at the next childless woman you meet and allowing as how she'll change her tune about motherhood as soon as she has a baby of her own. (That's what she said to me: "You'll change your mind as soon as you have a baby of your own." Mmm-hmm. I allowed as how that wasn't very likely.)

Note to self: The next time you make really good home-made salad dressing, take some damn notes.

Note to Wren: We've done the saddle and saddle blanket every day this week. Please stop acting like they're going to eat you. It isn't funny anymore.

Note to my father's wife: I've known Liss for twenty-four years. You've known her for about six months. Please do not tell me how very much you know about the way her mind works. You don't know. I do.

Note to the grapes: You did a crappy job this year. Try harder for next year.

Do you need help hiding the body?

People should wait until they're adults to have children. If they want them.

And shouldn't push them on people who don't.

It sounds like not a very good weekend. Hope the week is better.

Nah. As soon as I explained why it wasn't very likely, the horrified and totally embarrassed look on her face almost made me want to explain that I hadn't wanted kids in the first place. A little mortification is good for the soul, I think.
