It's fair week, so I'm kind of busy with work (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) and being-at-fair (Wednesday, Friday, Saturday) but here are a few updates from midweek.

We found/fixed the water pipe leak. Yay!

Horse took third out of three in the Arabian Mares, 4-and-older. While I love her dearly, Nick has a long-ish back and she toes out in front and behind. I can't argue with the judge, though I would not want either of the two mares he put above her. Yes, they had better legs. They had (mare 1) mutton withers and butt higher than shoulders and (mare 2) weird choppy quality of movement at the trot, rather short neck.

Also, while Nick looked like shit because she wasn't drinking the fair water (it has chlorine), being all drawn and tucked-up doesn't actually have much to do with her legs. They're still just as crooked when she's fully hydrated.

It poured rain yesterday, was raining when I got up this morning, may well rain all of today and probably the rest of the week. Wet fair weeks don't make anyone happy.

Sausage sandwiches are now five bucks a pop. For that kind of money I'm kind of wanting to make my own. Last time I recall pricing, they were three dollars. I'm afraid to price the lemonades.

Kimmie's daughters look so much like her that it's unreal. Seriously, they don't favor Chris at all. Christine's kids are all long drinks of water (that's from Tim) but about the face, they look like her with the narrow, fox face and pointy chin. I have got to get some pictures of Vic -- she's got an interesting face.

Sombra is still a lovely mare, twenty-two years after I took her to the fair.

Also, I got money from BadPayer, who now requires an accounting of how his funds were credited to his account. (He is accruing penalties and stuff for not paying on time and those come off the top before any actual debt-repayment happens.) However, assuming the checks clear, he's nine hundred and fifty dollars to the good, which will buy him a month or so of peace.
