Such a pretty time of year...
Even in the (desperately needed) rain this is a gorgeous time of year. I was out yesterday playing barberry (the green-up is almost far enough along to make barberrying less easy) in the misty not-quite-rain and everything was just so many colors of green. It's beautiful. The dogwoods are holding on, drifts of horizontal white in the many many greens.
After that, since it still wasn't honestly raining, I took Bird for an easy-day spin, we marched up the covered bridge hill and the other hill and came home. It was a flat walk outing but he worked up a sweat anyway. His spring fitness program is coming along, but the hill marches are hard work and the fitter he gets, the faster he can walk. He's pretty on board with the Hup-two-three-four nature of the road work and he does a good job staying on task. Since these days are mostly "non-dressage" outings, I let him truck along in a loose rein as long as he keeps marching and stays on the road shoulder.
Since it's prom season, there were a ton of folks down at the covered bridge doing prom pictures. Now, the covered bridge is NORMALLY a relatively quiet place, low traffic, etc. So, a herd of families with young'uns dolled up in fancy dress lounging about the place was a bit... different. Bird was a bit concerned but handled it fine except for the Very Careful Driver coming up behind us at about HALF A MILE AN HOUR faster than Bird was walking. Fifteen to twenty mph is fine for passing us on the road. Faster is, tbh, fine. Creeper speed... makes my horse think something bad is about to happen with the vehicle SNEAKING UP ON HIM. I lol'd and honestly it was fine.
Today it's super rainy so I'm doing indoors projects instead.
