Advent Cheese #22

Tomato and olive. I am starting to think there is no swiss.

Edam. I have given up hope for swiss.

Advent Cheese # 15

White cheddar. Somehow this is sharper than aged cheddar.

Advent Cheese # 14

Aged cheddar, we've seen this one before. Please to be enjoying this a cappella arrangement for Man of Constant Sorrow more than I am enjoying the lack of surprise in this hyar Advent Cheese nonadventure.

Advent Cheese # 13

Hot-n-spicy, a repeat. Definitely NOT advent-URE cheese over here.

Advent Cheese # 12

Edam. I was thinking, if they are doing all different each and every one advent cheeses (THEY ARE NOT but if they were), are there sufficient different kinds of cheese to have 24 of them? Probably. I mean, Gouda, swiss, cheddar, provolone, mozzerella, red leicester, colby, jack, edam, parm, romano... that's 11 right there and none of them are scary or weird. I feel like this could totally have been One Different Cheese Each Day.

Gouda, again. Five kinds. I swear.

Advent Cheese #10

Hot n Spicy, again. I think there are probably like five kinds of cheese repeated five times each. That is my current theory. Also, why no swiss?

Advent Cheese #8

Tomato and olive. Okay. Not exceptional. I was really expecting more adventURE in my advent cheeses.

Advent Cheese #7

It just says "Hot n Spicy" and it eats kind of like a pepperjack. Bit spicier than average storebought pepperjack, nice bit of bite to it.

Advent Cheese #6

Herbed Gouda. Not bad, but tastes saltier than the regular gouda. Maybe it's to preserve the herbs. Also, Peaky Blinders is a nice soap opera about a street gang post WWI. Lead has cheekbones that could cut you.

Advent Cheese #5

Gouda, again. Still nice. Also, there are 36 squares completed for the bathroom afghan.

Advent Cheese #4

Again Aged Cheddar. Still nice enough, not super-crumbly, good with an apple. Wondering where the URE is in this Advent calendar. (Hasn't got much adventure, is what I mean.)

Advent Cheese #3

Aged cheddar, white. Nicely sharp, not as crumbly-dry as some. Went really well with an apple. Two thumbs up, would eat for lunch again.

Advent Cheese #2

Gouda. Nice, but a bit more... milk-ish than the red leicester of yesterday. I bet it would make a good melting cheese for like a grilled cheese (rye bread and possibly some gently sauteed mushrooms).

Advent Cheese

My friend Lala got me an Advent Calendar of Cheese. I am not particularly religious (she knows this) but I do like cheese, so... it's fun. Today's Advent Cheese was Red Leicester, which is kind of cheddar-like. (The box gives you about 3/4 of an ounce per day, which is a nice solid taste without being too much.)
