One of the tenants tried to set fire to her apartment last night. Burning toaster, apparently. Personally, I think it was really a stealth plan to get us to redo her kitchen. Staging an appliance fire like that... really, it's obvious.
We also cleaned out the furnace room at 400. I still wouldn't eat in there, but at least I don't worry about breathing in there anymore. Lots o' assorted cruft is now gone and an entire floor full of furnace particulate has been removed. All hail the shopvac!
Product review for the day: Zinsser Bin Primer Sealer covers a multitude of sins. It's a white-pigmented shellac sealing thingie that goes on over all sorts of problematic stuff (like soot, mildew, other stains, crayons, sharpie markers) and covers and seals the surface so that you can paint over your sins without having them come back to haunt you. Use in a well-ventilated workspace because it's got all kinds of fumes. It's good stuff.
Now I'm off to watch some crappy Wal-Mart movies.
