A couple of weeks ago, probably on [livejournal.com profile] moop2000's LJ, there was a video of three very, very fey guys on an airplane wing, dancing around and singing something that was not in English. It was kinda catchy. A couple of days ago, [livejournal.com profile] ladyivy posted a link on Afap with some fat guy lip-syncing the same damn song. The song was still kinda catchy. Apparently it's popular in parts of the world that are not the United States.

The song turns out to be in Romanian. It's by a band called O-Zone and the tune is NOT called "the numa numa song", it's Dragostea Din Tei. Romanian pop music. I would not ever have put those three words together on my own. The only things that I know for sure come out of Romania are gymnasts, beets, and the blog Halfway Down the Danube. However, I assure you that in this particular case, it actually works. Really. They're singing in Romanian, and it's pop music and it's catchy as all hell.

It also was all over the radio in Germany last summer. I'm the only one in my family who is not yet fed up with it enough to attempt to stop any speaker in the vicinity playing it by any means necessary.

I read that somewhere. Also, [livejournal.com profile] electroweak says there are a million flash animations out of Japan with that as the soundtrack. It's catchy.
