Good heavens, we're going to the dogs today. It's a meme. On the plus side, it's not catblogging. I do have cats. Two of them, adorable long haired vermin-killing bundles of fluffy, warm, purring razor-clawed death*. I also have a digital camera. Catblogging would be easy to do. However, today we're doing a meme. Forgive me, I may find better content later in the day.

The meme: Pick ten movies. Select a quote from each movie. List the quotes, hope people come by and are willing to guess at the movies without using google or similar because search engines make trivia... trivial. (Man, I hate it when English does this to me. Stupid language.)

[Update: Successful guesses are labled with who guessed 'em.]

[livejournal.com profile] teflon_tim 1. Clearly, you've never been to Singapore.
2. A bit cold and pointless isn't it, my lovely...
[livejournal.com profile] fooliv 3. Would you classify that as a launch problem, or a design problem?
4. Without lamps, there'd be no light.
[livejournal.com profile] moderndayviking 5. I find your lack of faith disturbing.
[livejournal.com profile] teflon_tim 6. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL, NO!
7. You'll find the pain is like the shame, you only feel it once.
8: Nah, saw it in a movie once.
[livejournal.com profile] zhasper 9. I've been making a man with blond hair and a tan and he's good for relieving my... tension.
[livejournal.com profile] not_your_real10. A condom is the glass slipper for our generation.

*I am not exaggerating for comedic effect. Both cats are fully-loaded, allowed outside during daylight hours in warm weather, and have brought me kills (voles, mice, chipmunks, baby rabbits) that they are clearly very proud of having killed.

#3 is clearly Real Genius. Such a shame that Val Kilmer turned into such a worthless dick in his later career. He had potential.

I want to say Star Wars: A New Hope

That's three, people.

[livejournal.com profile] zhasper, if there were extra credit points to be had for complete information, you'd be getting them. Unfortunately, there isn't even a crappy gold star. Budget cuts, you know how it is.

[livejournal.com profile] fooliv, I was also disappointed with the later career of the once-lovely Val Kilmer. He was such a pretty thing...

[livejournal.com profile] moderndayviking, I had to check to make sure that was the actual damn title of the movie. In my world, it was "Star Wars" for way, way too long. At the current time, I think of it as "the first movie."

Hmmm...

Other than those already named, I can add the following:

#1 is from Pirates of the Carribean. Don't remember precisely where, but that's definitely Jack Sparrow talking.

#6 is from Bluto's "motivational" speech to the Deltas in Animal House. And the appropriate response is "Germans?" "Forget it, he's rolling."

There are probably one or two of those remain which will cause me to kick myself once they are revealed, but we'll just have to seee...

#1 is most definitely the good captain. It's fairly early in the movie, after he pulls what's-her-face out of the water and tears open her corset.

You also pegged #6.

Of 2, 4, 7, 8, and 10, I'm pretty sure you've seen at least three of them. There is one objectively-horrible film in the remaining five, but I loved it furiously the summer I was thirteen.

I just watched #10 yesterday. Marla says it to Tyler Durden (not the Tyler that knows he's Tyler, the other one).

Yep. I thought you'd seen the movie before? Maybe that one just didn't stick in your mind.
