(no subject)

I need things to do with cucumbers, things that are not pickles. Also, am embarking on a wide-ranging and ambitious plan to be able to fit into sizes of jeans I have not fit into for lo these many years. It's entirely possible that the wide-ranging and ambitious plan is doomed to failure, but I'm going to make an effort anyway. I'm tired of being so damn jiggly. I'll keep ya'll posted on that (not like anyone actually cares) but the general thrust of the plan is as all such plans -- actual exercise (*grumble*) and less food (double *grumble*). I'm not a huge fan of exercise and I really like food, so this is going to be mostly unfun.

There' a lovely Indian dip/sauce called 'raita' that uses yogurt and shredded or mashed cucumbers. Very cooling. Lots of things can go in it.

Can dip with pita bread or use as a sauce to cool hot spicy stuff.

Ooh, yeah! I forgot about raita. That'll go nicely alongside curry (which I eat a fair amount of -- though not the ones with coconut milk or cream in them).

Or the greek version - yogurt, cucumbers and dill. Lovely on roasted pork or lamb or as a dip for chips or in pita bread sammiches.

The horsey stuff doesn't count as exercise?

I'm getting a tad bit fat myself. Been driving to work too much, and eating too much.

Horsey stuff counts *some* as exercise. I don't usually break a sweat while riding and it doesn't cause any residual muscle soreness. Therefore, I figure it's not exercise-y enough to do me any good.

On the other hand, I can pull nightshade out of the field and drench an entire t-shirt in sweat plus also muscles hurt the next day. That sort of thing, I figure, is what I need to be doing. Sweat. Sore muscles.

Eric made a cucumber soup for his lunches last week. However, it was supposed to be cream-based, so maybe not diet fare (he skipped the cream as it arrived from the store solid in its carton!)
