(no subject)

We are moving grandma's stuff out of the garage at 629 and into her room at the lodge today. It's about time -- her stuff has been in the garage almost exactly a year and she's pretty much stopped asking for it. I also have to show up at the hospital for bloodwork (required for the wrist-lump thing next Friday) and for that reason, I haven't had any food or drink since last night.

Why am I not allowed to eat or drink anything for twelve hours before bloodwork? Is this a test to see if I can follow directions? Is it some kind of sadistic doctor power-trip? Do they want to see how surly I get without food? Are they trying to determine if I'll fall over from not-eating so that they'll know whether or not they can tell me to not-eat for the surgery part?

*grumble*

I want my coffee.

Reminds me that I need to go get a cholesterol bloodtest.

Next friday you're getting the wrist lump seen to? Keep us posted.

From what I understand* the half-day of fasting before (scheduled) blood tests is so that your blood chemistry is free of the chemicals produced by the digestion of food, which can interfere with the tests and give false information.

But it's still a pain.

Because I'm plagued by the twin demons of Cholesterol and Triglycerides I have these tests about three times a year and it's always tedious for me. Plus there's the whole "jabbing-a-needle-into-my-veins" thing which gets old real fast. In fact, even before the first instance.

Anyway, good luck with the lump thing. :-(
