Gosh. It's meme time again. I don't do these often, but what the hell.

You pick fifteen of your favorite movies and provide quotes from them and people get on with the guessing of the movies. Ready, Steady, Go!

13. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? [livejournal.com profile] teflon_tim Animal House

14. Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles, you eunuch jelly thou! (I inexplicably love this film. It's a wonderful comedy.) [livejournal.com profile] ardvaark99999 A Clockwork Orange

15. One of these days in your travels, a guy is going to show you a brand-new deck of cards on which the seal is not yet broken. Then this guy is going to offer to bet you that he can make the jack of spades jump out of this brand-new deck of cards and squirt cider in your ear. But, son, do not accept this bet, because as sure as you stand there, you're going to wind up with an ear full of cider. [livejournal.com profile] cassandramorgan Guys and Dolls

I believe 9 is The Matrix.
15 is Guys and Dolls.

And 1 sounds so very familiar but it's not popping in my head.

OH OH!!!

1 is Real Genius. I so love that movie.

8 is definitely The Princess Bride

3 is Dangerous Liaisons/Les Liaisons Dangerouse

13 sounds like I should know it but I can't place it.

Odds are good you've seen the movie it's from. (I note with interest that I didn't quote *any* Monty Python. It's too easy for most of the people I know.)

There are far too many movies from the 80's in that list. I have got to get out more...

Number 5 is from WarGames.

Number 13 is from Animal House. John Belushi rallies the troops of Delta House.

Oh, and love the Cat Returns avatar, Cassandra. One of Studio Ghibli's very underrated films. :)

Cat Returns was the first Ghibli movie that my daughter would sit through. It wasn't until AFTER she saw it that she'd watch My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service. (She's also added Spirited Away to her list of favorite movies.)

Wow, so I didn't know 13 after all--I've never seen Animal House.

Answers nobody else has got yet

2. Pirate Movie
6. Cool Hand Luke
10. Pirates of the Carribean (first)
11. Top Secret
12. Blazing Saddles
14. A Clockwork Orange

Hah!

I think I'm going to disqualify you on the grounds that we've seen far too many of the same movies.

Skull, dammit, Skull!

[identity profile] ardvaark99999.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
How could you leave that off the list? Sheesh!

Because, best beloved, the internets let me down on fact-checking the quote. For some reason, the entire rest of the world is not as interested in seeing Christopher Lee (the guy who plays Saruman The White) as the leader of a gay motorcycle gang as we are. Other people are not as fond of Serial as we are. I couldn't even dredge up Paco, from El Perro? and believe me, I tried. I generally fact check the quotes before I post them because wetware memory is so damn unreliable...

7. The Breakfast Club

[identity profile] teflon-tim.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
And the last one (#4) is from Lilo & Stitch. Just saw it the other night; a much better movie than it looked to be from the previews.
