How are the plants doing?

The orchids are doing well. Orchid #1, now named "Gateway", is making a flowering stalk, yay. Expect pictures in a month or so when the flowers arrive, if the stalk does not die or drop buds or otherwise fail before then. Many a slip between cup and lip, etc. Orchid #2 "Roots" is making a new leaf as is Orchid #3 "Blue". Orchid #4 "Cabot" is still kind of droopy and sad but also is more recently arrived for rehab purposes. It also has a new leaf starting but first needs to get over its floppy sad state.

Of the tiny wee baby orchids I got as a random assortment via mail order in October for $45.00 (Vanda, Tolumnia, Cattleya, Dendro1, Dendro2, and Wilsonara), none are dead yet. Yay. I didn't share about these because they were pretty tiny and I was worried at first that they might all die. Hearing about dead plants is depressing, but now I don't think they're all going to die. Hell, Cattleya is Making New Roots and also visibly growing. My house (even with supplemental heat and light) isn't really warm enough or bright enough to make Vanda and Tolumnia happy so I'm not holding out much hope for them but the Dendros, the Cattleya, and the Wilsonara should be OK and they do seem to be settling in though the Cattleya is the only one making any visible growth yet.

I also decided (since there is now a plant light and plant humidity and plant heat and a plant room) to start cactus from seed. I have always wanted to try it but never did because #reasons. So, I bought me some cactus seeds (ten bucks for assorted 50 seeds) from online and I watched some youtubes and set forth on that adventure. Like, I put the seeds in trays (food storage containers with clear lids) a week ago and set 'em on a heated mat for sprouting plants. Y'know what? SOME HAVE SPROUTED, HOLY SHIT, I did not know that was a thing that would kinda work, but yeah. Okay. I mean, long ways to go before I get to real plants, but... sprouting is progress, right? Dang. Very exciting.

The mint project is leafing out all over hell and gone. Remains to be seen how it's gonna do going forward, but this is at least encouraging so far. (I feed it my "used" orchid fertilizer runoff.)

Jade plant is making extreme strides. It's growing all over the place, no idea why. (New leaf pairs, not extreme height.) Jade plant is from the grocery store. It looked lonely so I took it home.

Xmas cactus is going to flower and is doing A Lot better since being repotted. Lots of new growth there, too.

The three leaves that fell off the not-burro-tail sedum thing have sent out tiny roots and two of the three have tiny plantlets. (I just left the leaves on the surface of the medium in the parent plant pot.) We'll see how that goes.
