Visited Boston over the weekend

I went to Boston over the weekend to visit my cousin Sandra (she does not live there, we just met up there) and also see things of interest. There are a lot of Things of Interest in Boston to see, which is meet and proper as it's a bloody expensive damn town to visit if there aren't any things of interest around.

We did the Boston Freedom Trail, a walking trail that covers a lot of historic stuff like Paul Revere House and the Boston Massacre (It was five people. Five people is not a massacre. I mean, maybe it was back then and obvs not good to have the government firing on unarmed civilians, but when you compare that to modern and even not-totally-modern things like the holocaust and assorted genocides, the death of five civilians seems... not quite worthy of the term massacre. Maybe it was propaganda?) and The Old North Church and so forth.

We saw the monument to the Irish Potato Famine.

We visited the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, which has several nice things I would like to share with you.

Thing the first: Automedon with the Horses of Achilles, Regnault, 1868. Here, Automedon is failing at what the 4-H calls Horsemanship Skills.

His footwear is nonexistent and he does not have his horses under control and he's not got a lead rope on the bay and while Horsemanship Skills doesn't SAY you can't wear a red drapery as your sole outfit I feel that it's going to be a rule immediately after someone pulls an Automedon.

Also this is a fun Halloween parade idea that NOBODY WOULD GET BUT ME. I got a chestnut. I got a bay. I could round up a red drapery (and a skin-colored shirt & leggings -- October is cold in these parts). But absolutely nobody would get what I was dressed up as. :(

I got to visit one of my most-favorite paintings, Millet's The Sower, which also lives in the Boston MFA.

I just fucking love this painting. It is amazing.

They have some Tiffany stained glass, including a Dragonfly Lamp.
