You didn't play horse at all this weekend, did you?

No, no I did not. I visited the horse and fed the horse but there was no playing of horse. Because dragonfly season is very exciting.

Caught a spangled skimmer. This is the only eastern US species with the white dots on the wings.

Went down to the grassy area where the beaver pond used to be yesterday morning but I think it was too cool and too wet because I didn't see shit, one twin-spotted spiketail on the creek, one quite interesting vertically-perching clubtail I could not fucking catch, and one ringed-abdomen thing I also couldn't catch, this being the sum total of what I saw in what I swear to FSM is absolutely PRIME ASS DRAGONFLY HABITAT OF THE FIRST WATER. (It is horrific to get through, covered in shrubby alders and sedges, and it's about a mile and a half of solid walk to get there in the first place. It's slippery and mucky and godawful, but there is fishless standing water all over the place and dragonflies should fucking love it.)

I have made a note and I will try to do better on my next visit to the same location.

Also improved my county list (odonatacentral.org provides species lists for your county, a subject I have discussed here previously) by a couple of species this weekend.

New records for my county:

Blue corporal, Ladona deplanata

Dusky Clubtail, Phanogomphus spicatus

It's been a good holiday weekend for me, in terms of life-list additions.

Common Green Darner
Azure Bluet
Common Baskettail
Fragile Forktail
Turquoise Bluet
Lancet Clubtail
Blue Corporal
Dusky Clubtail

That's eight. And it's not June yet. :)
